Werner Sobek Architects
Werner Sobek is one of the world’s leading sustainable architect and engineering practices, with offices across the globe from Frankfurt to London via Sao Paolo and Moscow. Founded in 1992, the studio has now more than 200 employees. They work on all types of buildings and materials. Special emphasis lies on lightweight structural design, transparent facade systems, and sustainable building concepts.
Their latest project is the first Active House right in the heart of Weissenhof Estate, the revolutionary housing development designed by Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier in Stuttgart in the 1920s. In 2008 Professor Sobek was appointed Mies van der Rohe Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He is founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council.
